In a series of high-level meetings in Seoul, Saudi Arabia and South Korea have reinforced their dedication to enhancing cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment. The discussions, which included significant Saudi and South Korean officials, underscored a shared commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening the digital economy. This dialogue aligns with Saudi Arabia’s strategic goal of positioning itself as a global hub for artificial intelligence.

Key figures in these discussions included Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha and Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission Haytham Al-Ohali, who engaged with senior South Korean government representatives. Together, they explored ways to collaborate on AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure. The dialogue also addressed enhancing digital government services and cooperation in areas such as unified government platforms and digital identity systems, with a focus on using AI to advance public services. Notably, both nations considered strengthening ties between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.

Beyond government cooperation, Al-Swaha also met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to discuss potential technology investments and support for Saudi startups. These conversations aimed to identify opportunities for startups to expand their presence in international markets while simultaneously attracting technology investments to Saudi Arabia.

This visit to South Korea is a part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to forge robust global technology partnerships, draw in high-value investments, and expedite the growth of an AI-driven digital economy.
