The surge in South Korean semiconductor stocks is providing a counterbalance to global economic uncertainties, as these shares led the market to a robust performance on Monday. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose by 1.65%, closing at 7,007.72, marking its third consecutive day of gains, driven by investor optimism in artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors.

Leading the charge, Samsung Electronics posted a significant gain of 4.98%, reaching 274,000 won. SK hynix also contributed to the positive market momentum with a 0.59% rise, while its parent company, SK Square, saw a 4.45% increase. These gains helped offset concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices, which have been weighing on global markets.

Despite the overall positive trend in the semiconductor sector, the broader market displayed mixed results. Hyundai Motor experienced a downturn, falling by 1.64%, and LG Energy Solution saw a decline of 3.3%. These mixed performances highlight the differing impacts of global economic factors on various sectors within the South Korean market.

In the currency market, the Korean won showed resilience, strengthening against the US dollar. It closed at 1,381 won per dollar, an increase of 4.5 won from the previous session, further underscoring the mixed responses to international economic pressures.
